Dust storms are expected on the roads connecting Jiménez and Chihuahua due to the arrival of Cold Front 42. The State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) reports that winds of up to 65 km/h were recorded.
Today, the cold air mass propelling Cold Front 41 interacts with the subtropical jet stream and atmospheric instability, and the arrival of Cold Front 42 through the northwest of the country. A polar trough and cyclonic circulation at high levels in the atmosphere interact with the polar jet stream and the arrival of moisture from the Pacific Ocean. This will favor a cold to cool environment in the morning, warm to very hot in the afternoon, very cold temperatures in the mountainous area, and clear to partly cloudy skies.
Regarding winds, the CEPC indicated that winds are expected to reach 85 km/h (53 mph) today in the towns and municipalities of Ignacio Zaragoza, Guerrero, Carichí, Balleza, Nonoava, San Francisco de Borja, and Cusihuiriachi.
Winds of up to 75 km/h are also expected in the towns of Janos, Casas Grandes, Madera, Gómez Farías, Namiquipa, Bachiniva, Bocoyna, Guachochi, Cuauhtémoc, Riva Palacio, and Majalca.
Winds of up to 65 km/h are also possible for the following towns: Buenaventura, Temósachi, Matachi, Ocampo, Maguarichi, Guadalupe y Calvo, Gran Morelos, Santa Isabel, Belisario Domínguez, Chihuahua, Satevó, Rosario, El Tule, Huejotlán, Parral, San Francisco del Oro, Santa Bárbara, Camargo, Coyame, and Nueva Holanda.
Winds of up to 55 km/h are also expected in: Juárez, Ahumada, Guadalupe, Práxedis G. Guerrero, Palomas, Ascensión, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Galeana, Morís, Uruachi, Urique, Batopilas, Aquiles Serdán, Aldama, Rosales, Meoqui, Julimes, Delicias, Saucillo, Valle de Zaragoza, Matamoros, Allende, López, Coronado, Jiménez, San Francisco de Conchos, La Cruz, Ojinaga, and Manuel Benavides.
The proposal was conceived by Gonzalo Lugo, who has worked to foster an environmental culture that promotes sustainable practices such as reforestation.
It should be noted that strong wind gusts can cause dust storms along highway sections from Chihuahua to Juárez, from Juárez to Janos, from Janos Flores Magón, from Chihuahua to La Junta, from Chihuahua to Jiménez, from Jiménez to Parral, and the Chihuahua to Parral Short Route.
These weather conditions could be replicated in locations such as: Casas Grandes, Ignacio Zaragoza, Guerrero, Carichi, Guachochi, Balleza, Nonoava, San Francisco de Borja, Cuauhtémoc, Parral, and Camargo.
The temperatures expected for this day are (max°C): Chihuahua 31, Juárez 29, Janos 25, Madera 20, Temósachi 22, Cuauhtémoc 25, Ojinaga 35, Delicias 34, Camargo 34, Jiménez 33, Parral 30, Creel 19, Chínipas 32, Guachochi 20 and El Vergel 19.
