CDMX: fire in the Metro control center

The incident began on the morning of Saturday, Jan. 9th, and caused a group of people to take refuge on the roof of the building. So far, 29 injured and one death have been reported.

A fire affected a building of the Metro Collective Transportation System located in the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office on Saturday morning.

Due to the incident, so far the service on lines 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 is suspended.

-The accident occurred around 6:00 am this Saturday, Jan. 9th, in the control center number 1 of the Metro, on Delicias street.


-The Heroic Fire Department and the Cóndores detachment of the Secretariat of Citizen Security of Mexico City went to the place to fight the fire.

-The fire trapped a group of workers from the Metro transportation system, who took refuge on the roof of the place.

-The Fire Brigade reported at 9:17 am that the fire had been completely extinguished.

Claudia Sheinbaum

-Claudia Sheinbaum, head of Government, reported that 29 people were transferred to hospitals because they had smoke poisoning.

-The official also reported a death due to a fall.
