A mother was injured after being attacked with an axe and a knife by a 12-year-old student at Technical Secondary School No. 52 in Delicias, Chihuahua, during a school assembly on Tuesday morning. The victim was taken to a hospital, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
According to the woman’s statement, the attack occurred near the school’s restrooms. The attacker, a student at the same school, first hit her with an axe and then injured her with a knife, before fleeing the scene without immediate intervention from teachers or security personnel.
The incident sparked alarm among parents, who decided to withdraw their children from school for fear of a further incident. The situation prompted the intervention of local education and security authorities.
Mario Proa, coordinator of the Chihuahua State Educational Services Office, visited the school and confirmed that a comprehensive review of security protocols will be conducted. Among the measures being considered are the implementation of the backpack operation and the installation of a metal detector at the entrance to the high school.
Regarding the situation of the aggressor student, educational authorities reported that she will not be immediately expelled, as her personal situation will be evaluated first before determining the appropriate sanctions.
