Chihuahua: Investigation into alleged attack and murder of dogs with tar

Authorities in the state of Chihuahua have launched an investigation following a complaint from residents of the Sierra Azul neighborhood in the municipality of Chihuahua regarding the alleged attack on four dogs found trapped in boiling tar.

According to reports, two of the dogs were no longer showing vital signs at the time of their discovery, while the other two were rescued alive while struggling in intense pain and were taken for veterinary care.

How did the alleged attack on the dogs with tar occur?

Given the critical situation, local residents requested emergency assistance, and the Heroic Fire Department and animal rescue units responded to the intersection of Sierra de los Arados and Sierra de Puma streets to rescue the animals.

Residents’ accounts indicate that the dogs were found struggling to free themselves from the sticky material.

The state government has confirmed that key eyewitness testimony has been collected and security cameras are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Mayor of Chihuahua, Marco Bonilla, expressed his commitment to fully investigating the incident and ensuring that those responsible for this act of animal cruelty are identified.

“I have instructed the Municipal Public Safety Directorate and the Civil Protection Coordination to work diligently on this case and identify the causes of such regrettable events, as the protection of all living beings is a priority in Chihuahua,” explained Marco Bonilla.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to not allowing acts of animal cruelty to go unpunished and have urged the public to collaborate in reporting these incidents.
