In order to strengthen security on the Chihuahua-Parral highway and prevent vehicle theft, the State Public Security Secretariat has activated a new base of operations in the area. This was announced by the head of the department, Gilberto Loya, who stressed that there are currently three bases operating along this road to ensure the tranquility of travelers.

The official recalled that months ago there was an increase in the theft of vehicles, mainly trucks, on this stretch of highway. However, after the implementation of joint operations between the Security Secretariat and the State Attorney General’s Office, the incidence of crime in the area was drastically reduced.

“After a great effort and the dismantling of a gang of criminals by the Attorney General’s Office, the thefts practically reached zero,” said Loya. However, a new case was recently presented, whose vehicle was immediately recovered. Currently, the authorities are investigating whether it is a criminal cell that could have been reactivated.

As a preventive measure, the Security Secretariat decided to expand its presence on the road with the activation of a third base of operations. “The intention is to provide security to all the people of Parral and to those who travel on this road, especially in the section that connects Chihuahua, Cuauhtémoc and Parral,” said the secretary.

Loya also reported that on two previous occasions, a criminal leader operating in the region was arrested, which contributed significantly to the pacification of the area. “We know that the problem has not disappeared completely, but we are working to maintain security,” he said.

The official stressed that, in addition to the operations on the Short Route, the Security Secretariat maintains a presence in the southern region of the state, particularly in municipalities such as Guadalupe y Calvo and Guachochi. In these areas, clashes between criminal groups have generated population displacement, although the State Government is already working on the recovery of the territory.

Finally, Loya reiterated the commitment of the state administration to continue strengthening security on the roads and communities of Chihuahua. “We know that there is still much to do, but we are moving forward with concrete strategies to guarantee the peace of mind of the citizens,” he concluded.

With this new strategy, the authorities seek to keep crime rates under control on one of the most important routes connecting the state capital and southern Chihuahua, a key area for trade and the mobility of thousands of people.
