Cuernavaca, Morelos (January 18, 2021).- Members of the Front of Peoples in Defense of Water and Land of Morelos, Puebla, and Tlaxcala (Frente de Pueblos en Defensa del Agua y de la Tierra de Morelos, Puebla y Tlaxcala), carried out a “caravan for life and water” and to protest against the operation of the Morelos Comprehensive Project (PIM) of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) which includes a thermoelectric plant, a gas pipeline and an aqueduct, which they assure will destroy their states’ environment.

The “caravan-rolled” left the center of the Huexca community, Yecapixtla, around 9:30 in the morning, and minutes later they passed in front of the thermoelectric plant located in this indigenous community and made the first stop of this protest there.

Some activists got out of their vehicles and unfurled a banner at the entrance of the CFE complex with the faces of General Emiliano Zapata and Samir Flores Soberanes, an opponent of the PIM assassinated in February 2019.

In defense of the territory, the land, the water and the forest. No to megaprojects. For the organization of the indigenous peoples, communities, farmers and the city, anti-capitalist and anti-patriarchal. Zapata Vive and Samir Vive! Water yes, thermos no !. The fight goes on and on and on. Long live the EZLN! ” it read on the blanket.
