The director of the International Convention Center of Puerto Vallarta  Magaly Fregoso reported that so far, they have scheduled 32 events this year, while there are some others who are tentative, that due to restrictions by the pandemic are to make longer virtual and/or hybrids.

He mentioned that the strongest events are scheduled from February and March, so they are awaiting if the State Government again issues restrictions that could affect the realization of these events, since thousands of people are considered to take place in these activities; these are very important events such as the two concerts that are on the agenda.

“They are two concerts that intend to bring in about 8 thousand people, not on the inside but also on the outside, but we are still not clear about the new regulations, AND NOTHING IS BEING SAID on the subject of concerts.”

He indicated that the site is working with a capacity of 2,500 people. On the other hand, he considered that it will continue to be a complicated year for the meetings tourism industry but it will be better than 2020, because last year, starting in March, absolutely no activities were carried out.

Among the events that are coming up apart from the concerts are: a filming of a Netflix series , an expo, assemblies of Jehovah’s Witnesses, union congresses and more. However, very important events for this tourist destination were also lost due to the pandemic.

The Convention Center director stated that because the enclosure has not generated income, within the agreements that exist with the State Government were economic support and not leaving this place unprotected, which still needs renovation, since not much maintenance has been given to the venue in recent years, and there are many things to attend to such as renewable energy issues, solar panels, among other things.
